Basterdly Weekend Results
There wasn’t just one bomb this week, but 2, as both Post Grad and X-Games 3D the movie got some people to go to the show, just not enough to make a dent on this weekend’s marketplace.
Basterds outdid even my pie in the sky expectations for it, and it even out-opened District 9 from the previous week.
The winner of the PTA race this weekend was from Strand films. It is called The Headless Woman. In a close second place was the Renee Zellwegger period comedy, My One and Only.
These coming weeks should see great week holds for the holdovers as the summer winds down and people are slowly going back to work and back to school, leaving poorer weekdays and bigger Thursday to Friday jumps.
Next weekend, we’ve got 2 horror films. One is a sequel and the other is in 3D. Also, we have Ang Lee’s latest in Taking Woodstock.
In the limited release front, Roadside Attractions gives us two different but from what I heard, two great flicks in the documentary The September Issue, that is about the making of Vanity Fair issue, which shows the real life person that Meryl Streep portrayed in a Devil Wears Prada. Also, opening in Austin, Texas is Mystery Team, which I assume is in the Alamo Drafthouse. I heard it is very funny.
